This spring, we conducted a needs assessment survey to explore opportunities to build hyper-local peer-to-peer prenatal support communities and learn about which components of the volunteer-led Takoma Families Cohorts model should be replicated for expecting families.

Local Maternity Thread is pleased to announce that we, through fiscal sponsor CHEER, were awarded a $500 grant from the Takoma Foundation to establish a new clothing closet in the greater Takoma Park area.

We are thrilled to share that Amy Leo, Local Maternity Thread’s founder, has been nominated for a 2025 Azalea Award, one of Takoma Park’s most beloved honors recognizing individuals who embody community spirit, service, and innovation.

At Local Maternity Thread, our mission is to keep maternity and nursing clothing in circulation. While we gladly accept maternity and nursing clothing, our cozy little space means we can't take other items at this time.
